Daniel Steck and Kristin D’Silva will each receive $1,500 to attend the universities of their choice. Daniel plans to attend Texas A&M University as a pre-med student and major in biomedical engineering. “By combining my passions of medicine, engineering and service, I can see my future role as both a medical researcher and a practicing interventional cardiologist,” Daniel wrote in his essay. Kristin D’Silva plans to study psychology at Cornell University with career plans in the area of psychiatry. “I hope that I will one day be able to serve the Stone Oak community in a health-related field,” Kristin stated after learning she’d been selected to receive the scholarship. Both Kristin and Daniel are ranked at the top of their graduating class with 100 averages. Both have volunteered in the community and demonstrated strong leadership skills. Congratulations and best wishes to Daniel and Kristin as they begin their college careers and explore all that health care may have to offer us in the future.
