Potts, APR, Public Relations/Marketing Specialist - (210) 575-0170 Rev. Dr. Eric Smith has been named Vice President of Pastoral Care Services for the Methodist Healthcare System. He is a United Methodist and Board certified Chaplain, with ministry experience in local churches, the U.S. Army and prisons, but primarily, private sector hospitals. Dr. Smith served as hospital Senior Chaplain/Director of Pastoral Care and Staff Chaplain during his seven years with the Harris Methodist Healthcare System, Fort Worth, Texas, and has served the past six years as Administrative Director of Spiritual Care Services in Sierra Providence Health Network, El Paso, Texas. Chaplain Smith completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling, and has further distinguished himself and his programs by conducting national workshops and publishing articles in the field of pastoral care. His programs have been noted for providing genuine care for persons, enhancing the mission of the organization and of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Smith and his wife, Dr. Donna Smith, former Superintendent of the Clint (Texas) Independent School District, have three grown children and five grandchildren, all living in the central area of Texas. Although most of his life has been spent in Texas, Chaplain Smith was born in Hamburg, Iowa. |
