Thursday, September 20, 2007 LEARN THE SECRET TO UNDERSTANDING YOUR DOG AT SEMINAR ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 Do you love your dog, but have trouble understanding his behavior? Methodist Healthcare is offering a course to help owners better understand their pets and reduce the incidence of dog bites and attacks. Steven Nicely, a professional trainer with more than 30 years of experience in the police service dog field, will teach “Learn the Secret to Understanding Your Dog,” from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. A recognized expert in dog training in several state and federal courts, Nicely will offer valuable information on how to communicate with your dog, how to help your dog understand you, and how to help your dog deal with separation anxiety. Nicely says separation anxiety is a leading cause of unwanted behavior. The seminar is presented by Woman Plus® and 55PLUS®, membership programs of Methodist Healthcare. The cost is $10 for WomanPlus® and 55PLUS members and $15 for non-members. Please do not bring pets to the seminar. For more information or to register, phone the Methodist Healthcare HealthLine at 210-575-0355. JoAnn King is experiencing aggressive behavior in her two-year-old cocker spaniel, Luke. He bites her when she leaves the room or gets up to answer the phone. He is aggressive with her son and rough with the family cat. We can set up an interview for you with Nicely as he observes Luke and advises King on how to identify the triggers for Luke’s behavior and reduce his aggressiveness. With advance notice, Nicely is available this Thursday or Friday for interviews. |
